Abstract | During M131 a physical oceanography research program with a biogeochemical component was carried out in the eastern boundary upwelling region off Angola and Namibia. The major aim of the cruise was to determine the variability of eastern boundary current transport, water masses variability and wave propagation along the coastal wave guide; to quantify the physical processes controlling the mixed-layer heat and freshwater budgets in the eastern boundary region, including the loss of heat due to turbulent mixing; and to investigate the upper-ocean water mass variability associated with the variability of the meridional overturning circulation along a transatlantic transect at about 11°S. Though multibeam has been recorded during the cruise, it was not a major focus and the responsible party provided no acquisition information. |
