Abstract | The main goal of SO113-1 was the investigation of deep and cold water masses which are found at great depth below the very warm surface waters of the equatrial western Pacific. Deep-ocean mixing and advection are important for long-term changes of the global climate system over hundreds of years. The flow of deep water across the equator is an important link in the global ocean-atmosphere system. CTD profiles with rosette sampler for nutrient and antropogenic tracer analyses were used intensively. Though multibeam data has been recorded it was not the main focus of the cruise and no acquisition information has been provided by the responsible party. |
