Purpose | |
Abstract | SO137 aimed to study the tectonic and neo-tectonic processes active at the Sunda Island Arc with special regard to the Sunda Strait region where the hinge zone is assumed between the frontal subduction off Java and the oblique subduction off Sumatra, and to provide a contribution to the international research on plate margins and subduction Zones. The HSDS was used to find positions for geological sampling (coring, dredging and heat flow stations) and to derive high resolution (1-2 m) information about the depositional environment of the upper sediment layers. But the HSDS recording was not the main focus of the cruise and the responsible party provided no further acquisition information. |
