Abstract | Cruise SO 141 was dedicated to the "Hawaii-Emperor Bend" to collect rock samples and geophysical data for the determination of high precision ages of each volcanic edifices along the Hawaii Seamount Chain and to establish any changes in geochemistry with time. HYDROSWEEP records were acquired throughout the cruise, beginning with departure from the Philippines and ending on arrival at Midway. A total number of about 160,000 swaths (i. e., 9,450,000 beams) were recorded (and processed) over the course of 550 hours. Due to excellent weather conditions data quality was good and a usable beam recovery rate of more than 90% was achieved 011 average. |
