Purpose | |
Abstract | The main goal of SO144-1 was to carry out interdisciplinary investigations of intraplate magmatism at the Panama Basin and the Galapagos Plume. While it was mainly dedicated to seismic wide-angle data and magnetic data acquisition offshore Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Multibeam bathymetry was continuously recorded over the whole length of legs 1 and 2 after entering Nicaraguan waters. Off Nicaragua, 2 days and 8 hours were devoted to the acquisition of multibeam bathymetry data, which were used to fill the gap between existing Costa Rica and Nicaragua datasets. Off Osa Peninsula, 15 hours where devoted to extending the coverage southward along the crest and flank of the Cocos Ridge. |
