Abstract | The main goal of SO156 is, on one hand, to investigate the relationships between the present-day environmental conditions and the associations of benthic organisms, and, secondly, the reconstruction of the Late-Quaternary paleo-environmental conditions of this important high production area. The multibeam echosounder was routinely used during the cruise and serviced by the system operators. The system worked without major technical problems and provided a complete coverage of the sea floor topography. The data quality was generally good with data losses at higher speeds and under rough sea conditions. |
