Abstract | The M112 followed the hypothesis that gas hydrates formed from high methane flux rates combined with freshwater fluids in the mud volcanoes are influencing the high abundance of chemosynthetic live in that submarine mountain area. In total, 36 surveys for hydroacoustic mapping have been performed during M112. Bathymetric surveys were usually conducted with a vessel speed of maximum 10kn, depending on the weather conditions. |
