Abstract | The Cruise M92 dealt with the investigation of the OMZ near the Peruvian coast. Major aim was to advance understanding of how OMZ´s are maintained and to determine feedbacks of benthic nutrient release on the currently expanding Peruvian OMZ . Bathymetrical mapping was conducted to assess the interaction of incident internal waves with the sea floor, which has consequences on particle sorting, benthic exchange processes and mixing in the benthic boundary and consequently on the benthic ecology. CTD Data were collected as well as sear floor imaging. A total of 65.7 h of bathymetrical mapping was conducted using the EM122 shipboard system covering a distance of 458.4 nm mainly to map the 12°S area. |
