Abstract | SO189-2 concentrated on sampling and probing the three subbasins of the forearc: the extended Bengkulu/Siberut basin, the small and narrow Nias basinand the Simeulue basin to research the hydrocarbon history. The EM120 was routinely operated on a 24 hour watch. Generally, the system works selfcontained and does not require operator input. Only during rough weather conditions, sharp and fast turns at waypoints, or when the vessel speeds up after station work, accurate reception of acoustic signals may be hampered due to air bubbles below the transducers. In these cases the system lost true depth. |
