Purpose Multibeam data were collected to extend the global database of seafloor topography and to provide high resolution bathymetry for the expedition's scientific program.
Abstract Multibeam data were measured during R/V Polarstern cruise ANT-XII/3 along track lines of about 11000 NM during transits, survey profiles and partly during stationary work. Data were achieved in the eastern and southern Weddell Sea, mainly at the continental margin in the area of the central Filchner shelf and off the Filchner ice shelf. During the transit route from Cape Town to Neumayer station several ridges were crossed: Agulhas Ridge, Meteor Rise, Shona Ridge, Southwest Indian Ridge and Weddell Abyssal Plain. The quality of data might be reduced during bad weather periods or adverse sea ice conditions. The dataset contains raw data that are not processed and thus may contain errors and blunders in depth and position. The dataset consists of 66 files in ATLAS ascii multibeam format (*.dux) which are compressed with GZIP to size of 368 MB. One file contains a measurement period of one day.
