Abstract | The main objective of RV METEOR Cruise M134 was to investigate emissions of free gas from crossshelf troughs of South Georgia, their distribution, quantification, and sources for methane ebullition sites in sub-Antarctic waters. The EM710 was used continuously during surveys the survey speed was around a maximum 10 kn, depending on the weather conditions. For the search of flares a reduced speed of 6-8 kn was needed to not miss a flare due to the ping rate. The swath width was set to 130-140° and the mode to high density equidistant, while the ping mode was very shallow to shallow. |
