Purpose
Abstract The MSM47 dealt with consequences of a M7.2 earthquake that occured in November 1929 benath the Laurentian Channel of the coast of Neufundland. During this cruise the EM122 was operated continuously in a 24-hour schedule and several surveys were especially designed for collecting multibeam data. The typical depths in the investigated area were between 500 and 5000 m water depth, allowing spacing bathymetry grid resolution of about 30 m to 200 m across and along, given survey velocities between 4.5 and 12 kn. The swath width was limited to 15 km and 65° in order to guarantee good resolution in across track direction in deep water. The beam spacing was set to equidistant.
