Abstract | The MSM43 was dedicated to physical oceanographic observations in the northwestern North Atlantic. The bathymetric measurements were conducted continuously during the whole cruise until the end of the last CTD cast close to the coast of Greenland on June 25 at 20:08 UTC. To reduce the amount of stored data, the recording was turned off during station work. During times of PIES telemetry or acoustic releasing and tracking of moorings the EM122 was completely turned off, because it transmits at 12 kHz, which is the same frequency as the other operations. The EM122 was operated in its auto depth mode with a maximum angle of 60° on each side. This resulted in a maximal swath width of around 12 km for the deep ocean basin, which was reduced to less then 400 m in the shallow areas on the shelf. |
