Abstract | In water depths shallower than 300 m, the Kongsberg EM1002 multibeam echo sounder was used simultaneously to the EM122. The shallow water system EM1002 was mounted through the moon-pool. To calibrate the measured depths the sound velocity profile was regularly updated using data from CTD casts that were performed on different sites of the survey area. Combined seismo-acoustic studies were conducted at ship speed of about 5 knots, dedicated multibeam surveys were run at 7-8.5 knots, and during transit the survey speed was 12-14 knots. The EM1002 was operated with a swath width of mostly 72°. |
