Abstract | During HE-413 13 MBES surveys were conducted with the hullmounted Kongsberg EM710 wich was used for seafloor mapping and water column imaging. Detailed information about the 1°/2° echosounder can be found under https://spaces.awi.de/confluence/display/HEdevices/Faecherecholot. The MBES settings were optimized for water column imaging. The swath angle was reduced to 90° during all surveys, resulting in a swath width of ca. twice the water depth The multibeam echosounder (MBES) available on R/V HEINCKE was used for seafloor mapping and water column imaging. The MBES settings were optimized for water column imaging. To minimize the radial noise that is generated by the first bottom return, and thus ease the flare detection, the swath angle was reduced to 90° during all surveys, resulting in a swath width of ca. twice the water depth. Especially the bathymetric data were extremely affected by the bad weather conditions. |
