Purpose | Multibeam data were collected to extend the global database of seafloor topography and to provide high resolution bathymetry for the expedition's scientific program. |
Abstract | Multibeam data were collected without operator supervision during sixteen days on R/V Polarstern cruise ANT-XXII/5 along track lines of 3940 NM total length. Data were achieved during transits and stationary work, starting at Vema Channel. Between 20°S and 20°N, a transect on 23°W was measured, intermitted in the area of the Cape Verde islands. The multibeam sonar system Hydrosweep DS-2 was operated in HDBE mode. The quality of data might be reduced during bad weather periods. The dataset contains raw data that are not processed and thus may contain errors and blunders in depth and position. |
