Abstract | The first two legs of M16 were part of the SFB 261 of Bremen University with the aim of collecting data and sample material from the equatorial Atlantic to investigate the relations between climate changes and the water circulation in the Atlantic as well as the bio productivity. During the first cruise of M16 sediment samples were taken using dredges, grabs and other systems. Sediment trap mooring which were deployed during cruise M12/1 were recovered and redeployed. The sampled material was analyzed using chemical and (paleo)magnetic methods. During the entire cruise Hydrosweep Data were collected- The quality of profiles varies coherent to weather conditions and ship course. Though multibeam data was recorded, it was not the main focus of the cruise and no further information have been provided by the responsible party. |
