Abstract | The main research aim of cruise M17 was to study the dynamics and multiple effects of climate change on biological, geochemical and sedimentological processes in the North Atlantic. Therefore during the first leg of the cruise sediment sampling systems were used to get samples in areas of high sediment accumulation which are linked to cold, dense water masses moving through V-shaped channels (e.g. at Roestbanken). Additionally sediment trap moorings were recovered to study the flux rates. The geochemical program contained nutrient measurements of samples of the water column as well as pore water samples. During the entire cruise Hydrosweep Data were collected- The quality of profiles varies coherent to weather conditions and ship course. Though multibeam data was recorded, it was not the main focus of the cruise and no further information have been provided by the responsible party. |
