Purpose
Abstract The main research aim of leg 4 of M22 was the investigation of the water mass transport in the Western South Atlantic. These included sampling of the near surface water of the Brazil Currents, Antarctic Intermediate Water, the deep western boundary current and other water masses. Therefore a current meter and CTD-rosette systems were used. Additionally current meter moorings had been recovered. During the entire cruise Hydrosweep Data were collected- The quality of profiles varies coherent to weather conditions and ship course. Though multibeam data was recorded, it was not the main focus of the cruise and no further information have been provided by the responsible party.
