Abstract | The main interest of cruise M23/1 was to recover two sediment trap moorings in the Benguela Current near Namibia, which documented the particle flux in this high productivity zone since early 1992. Additionally sediment samples using multi corer, gravity corer etc. were done on the Walvis Ridge as well as along a E-W profile across the Mid Atlantic Ridge. Parasound Data were collected during the entire cruise to study the physical structures of the upper sedimentary layers. During the entire cruise Hydrosweep Data were collected- The quality of profiles varies coherent to weather conditions and ship course. Though multibeam data was recorded, it was not the main focus of the cruise and no further information have been provided by the responsible party. |
