Abstract | The research goal of M2/2 was to investigate the transport mechanisms and fluxes of organic matter in the Porcupine abyssal plain. Therefore the scientific program included sediment and water sampling (multi corer, sediment traps) and (bio)geochemestry measurements. The cruise was a part of the MAST III project BENGAL and the German- sea project BIGSET. During the entire cruise Hydrosweep and Parasound Data were collected. The used Hydrosweep is a multibeam echosounder using a frequency of 15.5 kHz. The quality of profiles varies coherent to weather conditions and ship course. Though multibeam data was recorded, it was not the main focus of the cruise and no further information have been provided by the responsible party. |
