Purpose | |
Abstract | During the first leg of M46 sediment traps which were deployed during cruise M41 (RV METEOR) were recovered. These samples will be analyzed to determine the species composition of planktonic organism as well as their chemical properties. Using this results seasonal fluctuations and other elements of the ocean current system in the Southern Atlantic can be reconstructed. During the cruise Hydrosweep and Parasound Data were collected. Especially close to the mooring stations these systems were used. The used Hydrosweep is a multibeam echosounder using a frequency of 15.5 kHz. The quality of profiles varies coherent to weather conditions and ship course. Though multibeam data was recorded, it was not the main focus of the cruise and no further information have been provided by the responsible party. |
