Abstract | Being a part of the Special Research Program SFB 261 (University of Bremen) taking sediment and water samples on the continental slope off southern Brazil was the main goal of M46/2. The scientific program included the analyzation of the samples as well (pore-water analysis, grain size spectra, in-situ measurement of benthic fluxes). During the entire cruise Hydrosweep and Parasound Data were collected. The used Hydrosweep is a multibeam echosounder using a frequency of 15.5 kHz. It was used to study shallow sediment structures as well as to find sampling locations. The quality of profiles varies coherent to weather conditions and ship course. Though multibeam data was recorded, it was not the main focus of the cruise and no further information have been provided by the responsible party. |
