Abstract | Leg 2 of M49 focused on the investigation of the Southern part of the continental margin (Argentina and Uruguay) using seismic and echosounding methods. As the result Wefer et al. did drilling proposals (part of ODP) to investigate the paleo-oceanic history during the Neogene. During the entire cruise Hydrosweep and Parasound Data were collected. 9750 km of multi beam echosounding profiles were taken. The used Hydrosweep is a multibeam echosounder using a frequency of 15.5 kHz. The quality of profiles varies coherent to weather conditions and ship course. Though multibeam data was recorded, it was not the main focus of the cruise and no further information have been provided by the responsible party. |
