Purpose
Abstract The objectives of leg 4 of M50 was the spreading and mixing of water masses the eastern basin of the North Atlantic as well as in the overflow regions around Iceland. Additionally the search for methan sources at the mid Atlantic Ridge was a research interest. Therefore a CTD rosette system was used to take water samples. An OFOS was used to observe the seafloor. During the entire cruise Hydrosweep and Parasound Data were collected. The used Hydrosweep is a multibeam echosounder using a frequency of 15.5 kHz. The quality of profiles varies coherent to weather conditions and ship course. Though multibeam data was recorded, it was not the main focus of the cruise and no further information have been provided by the responsible party.
