Abstract | The major research goals of leg 3 of M52 were to investigate gas characteristics of brines as well as collecting data to reconstruct the climate history of the northern red sea in the late quaternaryTherefore sediment and water samples were collected by a multicorer and a CTD-rosette system. In addition multichannel reflexion seismic surveys were done. During the cruise Hydrosweep and Parasound Data were collected to locate geological sampling sites. Data were collected only in Saudi Arabian waters. The used Hydrosweep is a multibeam echosounder using a frequency of 15.5 kHz. The quality of profiles varies coherent to weather conditions and ship course. Though multibeam data was recorded, it was not the main focus of the cruise and no further information have been provided by the responsible party. |
