Abstract | The leg 1 of M53 was divided into three subparts (Limassol-Las Palmas; Las Palmas-Las Palmas; Las Palmas-Mindelo). The main aim of the entire leg was to study particle flux in the Mediterranean and in the NE-Atlantic to determine processes controlling the varying of fluxes on different time scales. During the cruise Hydrosweep and Parasound Data were collected to sample topography data around (mooring) stations. The used Hydrosweep is a multibeam echosounder using a frequency of 15.5 kHz. The quality of profiles varies coherent to weather conditions and ship course. Though multibeam data was recorded, it was not the main focus of the cruise and no further information have been provided by the responsible party. |
