Abstract | The main research interest was to study the influence of biogenic particles on biochemical transformation processes at the sea floor. The working area was the upper and middle continental slope of in the south of Walvis Bay. Sediment samples were taken by a Gravity Corer. In addition a CTD-rosette took water sample. During the entire cruse Parasound and Hydrosweep data were collected. This data was used to identify coring locations. The used Hydrosweep system is a multibeam echosounder using a frequency of 15.5 kHz. The quality of profiles varies coherrent to weather conditions and ship course. Though multibeam data was recorded, it was not the main focus of the cruise and no further information have been provided by the responsible party. |
