Purpose | |
Abstract | Leg M58/1 focused on hydroacustic surveys on the Northwest African continental margin. The surveys were done by using high-resolution seismic as well as Parasound and Hydrosweep profiling. Additionally sediment samples were taken by gravity corer, multicorer and large box corer. During the entire cruise the Hydrosweep system was used. A high-resolution bathymetric mapping was done in the area of a large canyon system. Parasound data were collected along all seismic profils and transits. In the beginning of the cruise the Parasound systtem had problems with the heave compensation. No further information have been provided by the responsible party. |
