Abstract | The cruise M64/1 was part of a DFG Priority Programme >From Mantle to Ocean: Energy, material and life cycles on spreading axes< designed to obtain a four-dimensional picture of the processes operating at mid-ocean ridges. The overall goals of the cruise were to determine the volcanic and tectonic dynamics, the geochemistry and biology at mid-ocean ridges and to link the hydrothermal processes to the volcanic activity on the axis. During the cruise the bathymetry and the sidescan were used to map and indicate the locations of the vents. Though bathymetry data were recorded, it was not the main focus of the cruise and no further information have been provided by the responsible party. |
