Abstract | The primary goal of the cruise M76/1 was the coring of deeply buried sediments at five locations along the continental slope off Namibia. For this purpose the seafloor drill rig MeBo should be used, which has been developed under the leadership of the MARUM. Extensive acoustic surveys have not been in the research focus at the beginning of this cruise. But, unfavorable weather conditions for the deployment of the MeBo system gave them two times the opportunity for detailed bathymetric investigations at about 27.8°S, 14.2°E with multibeam echo sounder EM120. |
